Kevin Hart Offers the Latest in a Long String of Celebrity Scholarships

August 11th, 2015

Celebrities are rarely known to have a close relationship with education. In fact, many are known not to be particularly smart. One needs to look at Kim Kardashian, and Paris Hilton as examples. In reality, many celebrities are very well educated, and value education very highly. These include such individuals as Natalie Portman, Jodie Foster, and Salma Hayek. Other celebrities have worked very hard to give back to society by starting up funds to help students with their financial needs. Kevin Hart is the latest celebrity to have set up a scholarship fund. I will go over his current scheme, and illustrate some other important ones to show you the active involvement and contribution to higher education that Keving Hart and other celebrities have worked to help those students in need.

Kevin’s Heart is in the Right Place

Kevin Hart is a well known stand up comedian and actor. He has started in such films as the Scary Movie franchise, and the 40-Year-Old Virgin, and television shows like Modern Family, and Workaholics, as well as hosting many very successful comedy specials. His work has made him a household name. His career has led to significant financial success, and now he wants to give back to society, his home town of Philadelphia, to be precise. Kevin Hart is giving a lot of his money to set up a scholarship scheme with the UNCF (United Negro College Fund). This offers up to four students scholarships worth USD 50,000 who have the financial need, and high GPAs. This is truly inspirational. Kevin Hart is not the only celebrity to have set up a scholarship fund.

Other Stars Give Back

Kevin Hart is not alone among celebrities to set up scholarship funds. Among them are 30 Rock, Beetlejuice, and Cats & Dogs star Alec Baldwin. He has given USD 1 million of his personal fortune to the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University to help low income students. Former host of the Late Show, David Letterman has himself set up the Letterman Telecommunications Scholarships. These are only two of the many scholarships around which have been set up by some of our favorite media personalities. So next time that you start considering any celebrity as overpaid or selfish, remember that, odds are, they are probably funding the next generation of university graduates.
